Beach Guide is for the users who has done the System 7.1.
Beach Guide supports the English environment. If you use the
Japanese environment,you read "Beach Guide(J)".
The operations of BeachText are supporting the initial set-up.

You should pay for the shareware cost which is "value of the present
conditioning software".
So it doesn't warrant the future support or version up etc. for
software.
If you will be the registered user,you will have a disk include a full
manual and GEAR.

More useful functions without a sacrifice of speed.
Various functions and the Easy operation. We realized the consistency
of these conflicting elements.

[Character]
-High-Speed-
In pursuit of the High-Speed. We keep the speed-down to a minimum
resulting from the High-grade functions.
BeachText is most suitable for use on Power Macintosh.
BeachText is especially good performance on Power Macintosh.
-For the new functions of Mac OS-
Not to mention for Inline Input by System 7.1,for Drag&Drop
and QuickDraw GX printing.

[Menu]
Some extra functions are only available when you have choose by the
option key.
[Creating and Saving new document]
To create a new window,you may choose "New" from the "File" Menu or
you may click the "New" button.
You can edit documents in this window such as inputing texts or
pasting a picture.
For saving a document...
1) Choose "Save" or "Save As..." from "File" menu.
2) Click the closebox or choose "Close" from "File" menu.
The save dialog has extra buttons and pop-up menu.

You can choice one of 4 format.
1) BeachText
2) TeachText
3) TeachText -J
4) TEXT
-Read-Only-
Save as an unchangeable document.
-Stationery-
Save as a stationery.
-Selection only-
Save only selected range.
[Print]
Before printing first or after changing printer it's necessary to select
a type of printing options from the Page Set Up.
The Page Set Up dialog of the Laser Writer has a checkbox.
If you check the "Save to Preferences",printing options are saved to
the preference.
The Printing dialog has a checkbox.
If you check the "Selection only",you can print only selected range.
When you want print out only selected ranges of all editing documents,
choose the "Print one copy" from the file menu.
Then the printing start without opening the print dialog.
-Size of the document-
BeachText 2.0 reads documents on memory and treats them.
It's impossible to read the document which has larger memory
documents than the empty of memory.
As BeachText 2.0 doesn't support a temporally memory before
System 7.0,the empty of memory means the empty of memory for
assignment of a application.
BeachText 2.0 has 640KB assignment memory in preference.
BeachText 2.0 use 300KB memory of 640KB.
In short,the empty memory is about 350KB. You can't edit a document
needs larger size memory than it.
Apply to the "Macintosh User's Guide" for related information of
changing fragmented application memory.
[Editing Document]
1) If you see a Black dot,the document is modified.
2) If the pencil has a slash across it,a document can't be changed.
Change possible / impossible is switched over.
3) A insertion point display a point of current insertion.
Display in Column(*3)/Index(*4)
(*3) Column...Display the number of character from the head of line to
a insertion point. 1byte character is counted 1 and 2byte is 2.
(*4) Index......Display the number of character from the head of document to a insertion point,if there is a picture.
The number of line,that the picture is equal to including one.
The Information of the document under editing is displayed in the middle. Information change by each clicking in turns,as follows.
1) [Font Name] [Font Size] [Tab Width] [Wrap Line Width]
2) [Path Name]
3) [The Date Last Save]
4) Non display
Wrap Line Width display only designate Wrap Line.
If select "Fixed Wrap",indicate Wrap Line Width.
If select "Window Wrap" indicate "W".
If select "Paper Wrap" indicate"P".
If a document has picture,the number of picture and the icon which
display the position is indicate in right hand. When you select
"item" in "menu",the icon jumps to the position of picture.
-Input & Edit-
When you use a Japanese Input method such as "Kotoeri",you can Input
and edit letters directly in editing area.
The editing text use the "Edit" manu,mainly.
BeachText 2.0 is able to use a picture like a text. You can edit
unconsciously,if in "Edit" menu selected range is also text or picture.
The clipboard is replaced the selection range by the "Cut" and "Copy".
The "Append Cut" and "Append Copy" acquire a content of the clipboard.
You should push "Delete key" or select "Clear" from "Edit" menu in
order to clear selected range.
-Drag&Drop-
Beachtext 2.0 corresponds to Drag&Drop. The system which supports
Drag&Drop is acquire convenient functions in editing operation.
When the mouse cursor moves on the selected range,cursor changes
the cursor shaped opening hand.
When the cursor is "opening hand",you can use the function of
Drag&Drop.
In this state,when you push mouse button and begin drag,cursor
becomes "grasping hand".
If you drag then selected range and insertion point move.
Selected range moves in the insertion point at the point of releasing
mouse.
If you release in another window,copy is done in another window.
If you want to copy in the same window,you should "Drag&Drop"
holding down the option key.
[Work Palette]
Changing whether work palette is displayed or not is done at
"Work Palette" from "window" menu.
Changing the display of work palette vertical / horizontal is also
done at "Work Palette" in "Window"menu or by clicking changebox
on work palette.
-Search-
Normal Searching
If the "Find..." is selected in the "Search" menu,the "Find" dialog is
indicated.
You input the searching letter line to "Search for".
Pop-up menu which sets a method establishes the conditions follows.

line as they are.
If extension it can include control code.

In order to search EOL code CR,you should input "\r" to
searching letter line.
So as to set octal notation in strings of characters or "Replace with",
you should input an numerical value in octal notation (0~7) after
inputing "\".

"Replace with",you should input an numerical value in hexadecimal
notation (0~9,A~Z) after inputing "\x".
"Regular-Expression" is able to complicated pattern matching.
In the pop-up menu which sets the position establishes the
conditions as follows.
Current To search a current editing document.
Open all To search all current opening document.
Multi-File To search all documents in designation folder.
In case a folder is in a folder,it searches into the folder for depth
set in.
Searching conditions (on the assumption of check state)
Matching words
It searches only the searched strings corresponding to whole word.
ex> Search for: Beach

Wrap around
Usually,searching is valid from insertion point to the end of a
document.
If "Revert" is checked,it researches toward the reverse,the head of
document.
Ignore Case
In case an English letter is searched,searching distinguishes a
capital letter from a small letter.
ex> Search for: Beach

Ignore 1/2 byte
The search ignore 1 byte and 2 byte.
Find Revert
To search letters from the insertion point to the start of the
document.
Record
As a pop-up menu,searching record is displayed.
Imputed words and phrases to "Search for" are registered to max 32
automatically.
You choose registered words and phrases,contents of "Search for" are
replaced to the word and phrases.
Batch Find
Documents list discovered the words and phrases are displayed.
You double click the list,document include the words and phrases are opened contents of list display are only the first discovered line
among the documents.
In case you find the document again,the documents are opened by
double click,you choose "Find Again".
-Replace-
Movement to exchange content of choice range to strings letters of
"Replace with" are named replace.
On condition of no choice,strings letters of "Replace with" is inserted
into position of a insertion point.
It's necessary following work to exchange special strings letters to
"Replace with".
1) To set "Search for","Replace with" to each strings letters.
2) To push "Search" button.
3) Because "Search for" is discovered,choose "Replace" form "Search"
menu.
4) In case of many times replace,choose "Replace & Find Again" in
exchange for 3)"Replace". Because you find after replace,you can
replace option times as replace 4).
5) If you want to replace all the strings of characters included by the
editing document,you should select "Replace All" from "Search"
menu.
[Regular-Expression Searching]
If you want to search not only simple strings but pattern of
complicate strings in sa document,you should use this searching
method.
So as to compose the pattern,we let a certain character have a
particular meaning.
Please apply to the table for particular characters and the meaning of
them.
Here we illustrate a simple example.
" * " stands for the series of the optional number of character which
appears just before in pattern.
Using "[ ]"," - ",you an appoint pattern and range.
For example,"T[a-zA-Z]*" stands for the optional English strings
which begin with " T ",so "test","text" or "tools" etc.can be searched.
" ^ "stands for the other characters which are appointed in the pattern
following " ^ ".
For example,"[^0~9]" can search B,e,a,c,h,etc. as a optional character
except numeral.
" . " means a optional character. " ....." corresponds to 5 optional
characters combined with former.
" * "," .* "means searching from head to the end of line.
If you appoint "(.*)" strings surrounded by "()" can be searched.
If you use " \ ",the particular meaning of meta character is lost,so
meta character itself can be searched.
For example "T\[a-zA-Z\]\" doesn't correspond to Test or Text.
But the only strings "T[a-zA-Z]*" are searched.
Attention
1) The pattern can't be searched in an extended lines.
The pattern is searched between the start of line and the end of
line.
"Extend" can search include a EOL code.
2) The pattern matching definitely distinguishes between an English
capital letter and small later.
If you want to search both letters,you should designate "a-zA-Z".
3) There is a part of limitation in reverse searching as to pattern
searching.
4) A next meta character can't use.
\(r\) Regular Expression " r " with Tab.
As to pattern searching,there are many hard parts to understand,
some portion is difficult enough to explain. If you want to use this
function in earnest,you should read an explanation book on the market
together.

expression that matches itself.

selecting range like "a-z".

r1|r2 r1 or r2.
(r) Regular expression "r". It possible to nest.

-About "GEAR"-
BeachText 2.0 is a fast and light text utility. But it supports "GEAR" in order to reply user's needs and new function.
"GEAR" is outside module. you can call it from BeachText 2.0 by
housing it in the particular folder. There is one "GEAR" in this package
as follow.

Some "GEAR" can't be selected unless text or pictures is chosen.
It tinged gray can't be selected.
The method is opened,so the person who has knowledge and skill of it
can make "GEAR" by himself.
